Sea Gull
Sea Gull was built in 1934 by the renowned shipyard of Akerboom, Van Lent and Fred J. Kemper as yard number 130 — a classic Holland Cruiser that has graced Dutch waterways for over nine decades. She was delivered to her first owner, D. Smit of Amsterdam, under the name JADI, where she served as a graceful canal boat for guests exploring the city’s famous waterways.
For nearly thirty years, Sea Gull called Amsterdam home. From the 1960s onward, she found new life in the province of Gelderland, passing through the hands of several owners who each played a part in her long story. In 2019, she returned to Leiden — and to a new chapter.
In 2024, Sea Gull was acquired by Peter Wieberneit of Leiden. Though she had fallen into a dilapidated state, Peter recognised her historical and craftsmanship value and committed to bringing her back to her former glory. The restoration began in 2025 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
The work is guided by original brochures, period photographs and technical drawings sourced from the classic Dutch boating magazine Waterkampioen, complemented by the expertise and generous advice of Nico Verhaar.
