Neptunus
Neptunus is a 30-foot sailing yacht from the first generation of fibreglass construction. In the 1960s, C. van Lent & Zonen built a series of ten of these Tripp 30 yachts for an American client. A second series of ten, of a larger type called the Javelin 38, was also built.
The hull and superstructure were produced at Werkspoor in Utrecht. The interior and engine were installed at the yard in De Kaag, after which the rigging was completed elsewhere.
The final yacht in the series was sailed from new by my parents, siblings and me under the name Neptunus. At that time, the trident of Neptune featured proudly on the bow of our yachts. I, Jan van Lent, have been sailing her since 1962. In 2022, her sixtieth anniversary was celebrated with the Feadship Heritage Fleet.
