Blue Knight

Between 1935 and 1943, shipyard De Vlijt built five modern steel motor yachts of the Devea type, designed by H. de Heer from Amsterdam. These yachts stood out for their streamlined shape and colourful appearance, with names such as Blue Knight, Delight and Pucky’s Rivaal. The hull was riveted from 3 mm steel, the superstructure was mahogany, and propulsion came from a 24 hp Gray engine.

They were introduced at the 1935 Hiswa show in the Apollohal in Amsterdam. Despite their progressive design and eye-catching advertising campaign, they remained rare—only five were ever built.

Several have stood the test of time. Pucky’s Rivaal was still in original condition fifty years after her delivery. Another, later extended to 8.40 metres, now sails under the name Sjiek.
